Merrill & Paul wanted to update their builder’s grade cabinetry by keeping the same layout and possibly reusing their existing granite countertops. Upon inspection we noticed that the installed granite did not even reach the cabinetry on the left side of the “L” run and had several cracks/chips at the sink & range locations. We also discussed revamping the pantry storage and removing the “cubby” effect in the corner.
The new design moved the wall ovens from the primary “L” creating more counter surface for workspace and buffet space. The range remained in the island. The tall run is made up of the wall oven cabinet, the refrigerator cabinet flanked by pantry cabinets on both the left & the right. The trim details really make this wall look like a custom built-in unit.
The drywall soffits were removed allowing the new cabinetry/trim to extend all the way up to the ceiling. The new cabinetry is Dynasty, Destin door style, cherry wood, Nutmeg stain with Onyx glaze. The other new finishes include Bianco di Mesa granite, crackle glass mosaic backsplash and anthracite undermount sink.
